The first three flora surveys to photograph flowers in bloom produced a total of 22 species and so the the target for today is eight species to bring the total to a round 30. As soon as we set foot in the hay meadow this Scentless Mayweed became the first new species of the day, quickly followed by a Common Mallow in the hedgerow, although a bit of a tatty specimen.
Down the wooded Morgans Walk, Creeping Buttercups and Herb Robert were now much in evidence as well as a magnificent clump of Pendulus Sedge.
Cutting across the field to the woods we came across these Alliums which had obviously escaped from someones garden.
And on the return leg I came across this single sprig of Dovesfoot Cranesbill and a larger patch of Hedge Mustard, not one of the most flamboyant plants.
And to complete the day a specimen of Herb Bennet, which is also known as Wood Avens.
Well a healthy total of 10 new species bringing the total score so far to 32 species. Still time for a couple more surveys.
