St Albans Peregrine Falcons - Part 3

26th June 2024

All three juveniles were present and now free-flying as opposed to hopping around the cathedral roof as on my last visit on the 20th June. All very quiet on the adults bringing in food front, with no prey being brought in from 9.30am (I was told) until 5.15pm when we left. However, plenty of flight activity, mainly from the juveniles.

The adults did put in a couple of appearances just sitting around on the masonry.

No cliff faces here, but an overflow pipe will do.

And then off to hunt but either unsuccessful or ate it before returning.

All three juveniles could be seen most of the time sitting on their favourite ledges

But they were also enjoying their new-found wings and performing frequent laps around the cathedral.

The following is a sequence of one dropping off a turret of the bell tower.

Well another successful year bringing the total of chicks raised to seven over three years. What a success story!!!!
