A female Black Redstart has been present at St Albans Cathedral, known locally as the abbey, since early December so time for a visit. The bird seems to favour the large tree on the south-west side of the abbey so just need to settle down and wait.
While we were waiting one of the resident Peregrines put on a flying display..............
..........................and then tried to land on one of the security cameras which it found a bit slippery.
The Black Redstart did eventually show itself but at first was a bit shy and spent most of the time playing peek-a-boo behind the branches.
But it did eventually get a bit more adventurous and posed in a number of locations.
Also good to spend some time with Lynne and Kevin.
