Still a bit early for migrants so a short trip around a couple of sites in Essex. The warm sun had brought out plenty of Dark-edged Beeflies as well as this magnificent Peacock butterfly. There was also a couple of Commas but they were too fast and loathe to settle.
Reed Buntings were starting to return to their breeding sites and plenty of Kestrels hunting along the sea walls.
But the star of the show today was this Curlew that landed right in front of us before flying further along the creek.
Another couple of weeks and spring migration will be fully underway.
