There had been a sprinkling of migrants at Holland Haven recently so time for a quick look before they all move on. One of the hot spots had been a large wood pile just behind the sea wall so that would be a good place to start. As soon as we arrived there was a family of Stonechats flitting about and eventually they settled just long enough to get a couple of shots.
One of the adults was in heavy moult and ringed but the youngsters were in pristine condition.
Then out of nowhere appeared a female-type Pied Flycatcher and it soon became clear that it was totally unconcerned about our presence and just flew from log to log looking for food.
At one point it did emerge with this, but no idea what it is and not even sure it is food.
Wow, a fantastic day and a special thank you to my local guide Mike O'Hanlon.
