Red Kites at Watlington Hill

16th March 2020

After a fantastic morning with the Black-bellied Dipper at The Rye, a short hop over the county boundary into Oxfordshire to see the Red Kites at Watlington Hill. When we got there there was not a kite to be seen which was a bit worrying, but gradually they started to appear. They seem to come in waves with none at all for a while then up to a dozen soaring overhead with some swooping quite low. Here are the results.

They are now getting ready for nesting so many were uttering their beautiful call, and some came quite close!!
