There had been reports of Whinchats and Wheatears sitting on the fence by the model aircraft airstrip on Park Mead at King's Meads. Quite often these migrants only put down for a day, but when they were reported the next day they were too good to miss. There was also a report of a Wood Sandpiper on the floods, but the only photographable birds today were this rather smart pair of Canada Geese.
So back to the model aircraft area where the Wheatear was on show, hugging the numerous fence posts surrounding the runway.
And never far away was a trio of juvenile Whinchats which, although flighty, were always in close company with the Wheatear.
And this young Swallow was emulating the Whinchats, having a rest on the barbed wire fence. What an amazing morning!!!
