A quick visit to Lemsford Springs to see how the Green Sandpipers were getting on. This was my first visit to the site for a while as they had been carrying out ground works to repair the bank between the cress beds and the River Lea which had been damaged by erosion. That work was now complete but they had also removed some trees, presumably to do with Health and Safety on the river bank. However, what was totally unexpected was the reduction in the amount of watercress. This is due to the recent floods which flowed through the cress beds washing some of the cress away. As a result the site now looks very bare.
Whether because of this or the general disturbance from the works there were only two Green Sandpipers, one Little Egret and one Grey Wagtail present.
