18th June 2020
It had been raining all morning but now it had brightened up for an hour or so before the next round of showers, so just enough time to pop down to King's Meads to see what was going on.
There were a few butterflies around making the most of the short burst of sunshine including this Small Tortoiseshell and Red Admiral, and a Red Kite wafted overhead, a common sight these days.
Along the New River there was also plenty of action with both Reed Buntings and Blackcaps feeding young and both obligingly posing in Hawthorn and Elder berries respectively.
But the star of the show today was the Sedge Warbler that was staking out his territory on Broad Mead, not far from where the Marsh Warbler had been singing. Now to get back before the rain comes.
