A Couple of Hours at Lemsford Springs

28th January 2020

A quick visit to Lemsford and by jove was it uncharacteristically quiet. In the two hours I was there I only saw three species of birds on the ground, Moorhen, Green Sandpiper and Little Egret. No Kingfishers, Water Rails, Grey Wagtails and no dabbling Teal and Mallard. In fact it was so quiet that I ended up photographing the local Rabbit.

There were Green Sandpipers present but only two, compared with the usual 4-8 birds. Fortunately they were both fairly showy.

But this afternoon the four Little Egrets were more entertaining and for once out-numbered the Green Sandpipers. I just love their red mouths.

..................and this one was keen to show off its yellow left foot.!!
