Sadly Spotted Flycatchers have been declining in Hertfordshire over the last 40 years. They used to be present in many churchyards and large gardens during the summer months, but are now confined to just a handful of sites. One of those sites is Sandon Churchyard.
I have been photographing them there for the last few years so time for another visit. They were a bit elusive at first, but once I got to know their routine I just settled down in a chair and waited for them to come to me. Here is a selection.
