There have been a few Waxwings in Hertfordshire this winter with the largest flock being the 12 birds commuting between Wickes car park and Mead Lane in Hertford. They eventually cleared the berries and moved on, but a single bird was then found in Wheathampstead on the 20th February and was still present today.
The bird would disappear for about 40 minutes at a time. but would then come back to the pink berries on a Rowan tree and feed for about 15 seconds before flying off and disappearing again. However, the wait paid off and it was possible to get a few shots each visit.
