Bearded Tits at Rye Meads

5th February 2023

A couple of hours spare so off to Rye Meads to see if the Beardies were on show. When I arrived at  the Gadwall Hide they had not been seen all morning so I popped into the hide to photograph the compulsory Common Snipe that had elected to rest just outside the window.

I then popped down to the Kingfisher Hide but all was quiet so returned to the Gadwall Hide just as the Beardies appeared, right on cue. There were four birds in all, three males and a female, and is was great to see them feeding on Phragmites seed just 10 yards away.

And let's not forget the lone female.

If you go to Rye Meads and want to see some Bearded Tits, just ask Vicky nicely to let some more out.
