An Early Autumn Visit to Frampton Marsh - Part 2

29thJuly 2021

After a great morning at the visitors centre, the track to the small car park and the sea wall, time to pop into East Hide. We have been in this hide several times with limited success, but today it really pulled out the stops. To the right of the hide was a large flock of Black-tailed Godwits and Knot which were then joined by a flock of more Knot.

Some of the godwits were flipping over the bank to feed in front of the hide.

There were also a few Avocets out on one of the islands and one pair in particular were getting quite frisky or aggressive, it is difficult to tell which.

And of this occasion three waders were quite happy to feed right outside the hide window. The first was a Lapwing with its kaleidoscope of colours on its back showing up well in the sun.

Next was an adult Little Ringed Plover which appeared from nowhere and disappeared just as quickly.

But the resident today was a Ruff that just patrolled up and down giving lots of opportunities in different light and poses. Why can't all birds be like that?

But the star of the show today must be the Pacific Golden Plover which was showing well by the small car park by the sea wall. It was fairly distant and the heat haze didn't help, but still a fantastic bird to see and photograph.

Well once again a fantastic day at Frampton Marsh and I am sure we will be back in a few weeks time.
