My nan used to own two holiday chalets at Jaywick Sands and therefore I used to spend six weeks a year there as a boy armed with just an Observer's Book of Birds and a huge heavy pair of Skybolt binoculars. It did however give me a good grounding in bird-watching and I loved every minute of it. Therefore when back in January 2016 a flock of Snow Buntings was reported there it was just too much to resist. We managed to locate the flock very quickly and most amazingly they were feeding on the beach within ten yards of where we used to sit in our deck chairs all those years ago!!
We went back in January 2017 and January 2019 and below is a compilation of some of the shots that I was able to take over the three visits.
