Nightingales at Fingringhoe Wick

21st April 2019

The third week in April and the Nightingales should now be arriving, so time for a visit to Fingringhoe Wick. As is customary we had a breakfast pit-stop at Abberton which was unbelievably quiet apart from the long-staying Long-tailed Ducks.

Fingringhoe was also very quiet with very little birdsong apart from a lone Chiffchaff.

It would also appear that the Nightingales were a little later this year as there were only about five birds singing, and all of them were keeping their heads down with none of the usual singing from the top of a bush which is often associated with newly arrived birds. However, I did manage to get a few shots, although either partially obscured or through tunnel vision.
