17th February 2018
A freezing cold day with a bitterly wind so definitely a day to keep on the move, and what better way to start than with a brisk walk along the river wall. No sign of any Rock Pipits on the wrack at high tide, but there was a lovely pair of Stonechats posing on various sprigs. The female was slightly more confiding.............
..................although the males are always impressive..................
Now time for a spot of lunch in the Purfleet Hide. Fairly quiet here today, apart from a sizeable flock of Lapwings doing what Lapwings do best, getting spooked every couple of minutes and flying around before settling back from whence they came.................
..................but always photogenic, especially where a relection pool is concerned.
And finally a quick visit to the Ken Barrett Hide. Today the scrape had been commandeered by geese, both Canada and Greylags as part of their display ground. There was quite a lot of flying around and courtship display from both parties..................
........................but the cabaret performance was bath-time for the Greylags.
In this photo, the foot shows which way is up.
Superb!!!
